Nils Lofgren - Acoustic Live
Posted by: sjust on 14 June 2005
Herrschaft Zapperlot noch einmal !
I have heard this at the Naim booth during the High End in Munich, and was very pleased with the live atmosphere, so I went out to buy it. Pustekuchen ! Impossible ! The record dealers had silly smiles on their faces when I asked, and ordering was/is difficult, too. Either you pay ridiculous prices (ebay...) or they just can't get it for you.
Anybody here with a trusted source I can use ?
Anybody here that shares my enthusiasm for this CD ?
Cheers
Stefan

Stefan;
Yes indeed - a favourite of mine for some time. Beautifully played and recorded, though I prefer the solo tracks.
You need a USA made copy to get the best sound quality (I know because I've had an inferior EU made version as well).
Tower USA appear to have it in stock.
The playing on 'Keith Don't Go' is magnificent.
John.

If you like this you may also like Derrin Nauendorf "Live at the Boardwalk". Musically of a very similar ilk and if anything a better recording
It is rather hard to find but currently available from Moorgate Naim dealer in Sheffield, here:

Acoustic Live is a truly excellent recording. I'm sorry I can't help you on where to purchase it - I saw Nils live not too long ago and purchased it at the show. This is not one of those recordings that get great press and then you buy it and wonder what all the fuss is about. This is an excellent recording. Whether the music is to your liking is a personal decision; however, if you like Nils' solo work, you will not be disappointed with this recording. Also, if you generally like Nils' music but do not have that much of his solo stuff, it may be worth mentioning that many of his more well known songs are not on this recording. While some of his more highly regarded songs are on the disc (e.g., Keith Don't Go), it should not be confused with a greatest hits type of album - it is not. The song selection, however, is very good. Hope this helps.

I would rate this as one of my personal favorites. Didn't get much commercial praise. Too bad more people aren't aware of his genius. Love it!

I can only agree that this is an excellent cd! Of course the music is a matter of personal taste but I believe that most people would like it, and it sounds really great as well.
I bought 2 from US 6 months ago, one of them meant as a gift for a friend. Unfortunately he already had a copy so I still have both of them...
If anyone should be interested in buying my spare copy (US version, still unpacked) then let me know.
Cheers,
Claus
UPDATE: My spare copy is now on it's way to Ian. Hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do :-)
