Short notice; but Tom Sharpe's gem of yesteryear is being repeated on Beeb 4 TV, starting at 9.50pm Wednesday 30th March.

I hope it's a funny as I remember it.

What a great cast, what a great show. I was about 10 first time round, and thought it was hysterical. I've just had the worrying thought that Julia McKenzie as Nanny Whip and Nurse Catheter might have irreversibly shaped my outlook on sex...

Watching it back, it strikes me that it was rather badly directed - all those gaps between cues - though perhaps this is the effect of the subsequent MTV revolution on my attention span.

And the music: truly wonderful or truly terrible?

I was 10 when this was re-ran in 1987(?) - seem to remember it was good!

Unfortunately, didn't see this thread; last night when it was on, I was STILL trying to crack "Cannon Fodder" on Grand Theft Auto Vice City - that level's ReALLY po-ing me off, and it's VERY rare I get into computer games...

One thing you can say about Sharpe (if you like him) is that the humour doesn't wear out with age, and the TV adaptation (Bradbury wasn't it?) was a highly professional job. Of course, our recorder (which has performed faultlessly for 8 months)glitched at 10.45 last night so that's all down the toilet - unless they repeat it. So much for the brave new world on DVD recording technology.

Pah!
