Break time!

Posted by: Mike Hanson on 31 August 2001

It looks like I've posted about 275 messages in the last two months, which is almost obscene. I've gotten so wrapped up in some conversations, that I've found myself lost on a tangent.

In light of this, along with the fact that I have some deadlines to meet over the next couple of weeks, I'm going to take a break from the forum. Besides, I'm sure you're all sick of me now, and will appreciate the hiatus. smile I may read the messages every couple of days, but I won't be posting much, if at all.

So if you ask a question expecting one of my standard "Catchy" responses wink, don't be disappointed if it doesn't appear. Have fun while I'm gone people, and play nice! Catch you later!

P.S. I'm 37 on Monday, so wish me a happy birthday. cool

Mike

Have a good one........I shall miss your mega gob pearls of wisdom.......mind you, I agree with you most of the time.

Please take a small break from your sabbatical to let us know how the 52 sounds.

BTW......I am 52, is there anyone out there older than me......I think JW from the other mob beats me by a few months or it could be the other way round.

Please let there be someone older than me out there.

Regards

Mick

...to say thanks for all the good wishes. It sounds like we're all a bunch of geezers. smile

Mick, regarding the 52, it really is a no brainer. The 82 is very good, but it's almost shamed by the 52. Everything seems exceedingly natural, magical and "right" (whether it really is or not doesn't really matter to me).

Curiously, when I first connected the 52 it seemed more relaxed and laid-back than the 82, and I was a touch disappointed. However, when I switched back later, the 82 seemed noisy, brash and confused. Although the 52 was being broken-in, this contrast has been quite consistent throughout the period.

BTW, a similar thing was noticed from the inital comparison of 135s vs. 250, although that was a very quick test and my observations may be a bit premature. I've sent the 135s off for a routine check-over, as I like to do with all my used Naim purchases. We'll compare them some more when they return, and report back when I'm more certain of my perceptions.

Fear not Mick P ....I will be 54 next month...does this make me a senior member of the Forum!!

Let's see how good Mike H is at resisting the temptation to reply for the next couple of weeks !!!

It gets kind addictive this place...

Anyway Happy Birthday from me tooooooo!!!!

Mick P & Michael,

Relax. 55 in November, but I suspect there are quite a few with many more years to their names, hovering around, reading these posts.

Coffin-dodgers, as Mrs D would say!

Happy birthday Mike

Cheers

Don

You owe it to yourself to get a 52 before you're 53!
