Recomended Radio Shows That Stream Their Signal
Posted by: Edot on 23 April 2002
With classical music on public radio in the U.S. declining, I find myself listening more frequently to radio programs streamed over the net. Here are a few of my favourites. Please post some of yours if you have any.
Here Of A Sunday Morning http://www.hoasm.org/ 9-11 am Sunday Eastern US Time
Excellent early music program from New York. It’s very comprehensive and has been on the air for over 25 years. Host Chris Whent is a fountain of knowledge. He even spins records.
Late Junction http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio3/world/latejunction.shtml# 10:15 pm Mon. –Thurs. GMT Anything goes programming. Good for discovering new things. Not exactly news to those in England but maybe a few forum members from other countries are not aware that they can listen live over the net.
St. Paul Sunday http://sunday.mpr.org/ Shows are archived and available anytime.
Live classical music with good commentary by host and conversation with the musicians.
The Humble Farmer http://www.publicbroadcasting.net/mpbc/ppr.pprmain
7-8 pm Friday Eastern US Time. Jazz program from the state of Maine. Amusing host with a very interesting accent.
