My F1 chance. Wish me luck.

Ok, so not as a driver.... Received a phone call today from a team that I'd prefer to keep quiet for now. I have an interview as a hydraulics technician next Friday. The only clue I'll give is that it's not Ferrari!
I'm pretty excited, especially as my current job bores the living daylights out of me. My wife supports me all the way, even though it'll mean moving if I do get the position.
Fingers crossed.

Hi Tony,
Absolutely the best of luck for next Friday!!
I know you weren't asking for interview tips but I gave one to a mate recently for whom it worked (well, he got the job!).
Apologies if you know this but the tip is to answer questions as if you were working there already - so rather than saying, 'Yes, I think I could solve problem X' say something like 'No problem, I'll just run up an ABC that we can connect to the XYZ and that'll solve the problem, perhaps with a variable RST on the end so we can turn it up and down'.
Answer 1 sounds like someone trying to impress at an interview (which everyone will be doing), answer 2 sounds more like someone who works there already getting to grips with a task he's been given.
If it doesn't work, blame spending too much time on the Naim forum (but not me personally)
Regards,
Rich.

Just being considered is a helluva compliment. Puts you in the top ranks. Congratulations and good luck. Also, rather explains your previous posts on F1!

Good luck.
A good mate of mine is an aerodynamicist with Renault, he has just been oferred a senior position at another team though.
Warning, it is a fairly cut-throat world. Renault have insisted he basically works a 6 month notice, stuck in a room far away from anything even remotely useful or sensitive, bored out of his head. They have also ditched his winning bonus and end-of-year party invite!

Well, that was interesting, to say the least. I'll hopefully find out in the new year whether I've been successful. I really can't say much more, except that the team's facility is very impressive and the new 2.4 V8 I saw attached to its bare carbon fibre tub was absolutely tiny. And very good looking too (it's an engineer's thing!), which I didn't expect.
My interview was with the team manager, so no messing around there. It sounds like they might, if I'm taken on, want me on the race team. I nearly fainted when this option was put to me. Fingers crossed again.
Tony
PS. No, I didn't try and sneak my camera in!

I wish you all the very best.
And I can't wait to find out who it's with.

Oh well, the dream was good while it lasted. The letter arrived yesterday informing me that other applicants had more appropriate experience, so that's that.
For those that were interested, the team was Super Aguri Formula 1, the new boys. I was interviewed by race team manager Mick Ainsley-Cowlishaw, formerly of Toleman, Benneton and Arrows. A real nice guy except when Tom Walkinshaw is mentioned!
He wished me luck, and I hope they have some luck too, as they have one huge mountain to climb if they're going to succeed as a points scoring Honda B team.

Sorry to hear that, mate. I've had a string of disappointments just lately, makes you miserable don't it!

Always a shame, and more so when it's a dream job like that. If it's any comfort, the fact that they called you for interview must mean that you are very highly regarded at what you do.

Funny you should say that, EW.
Somebody over on Pink Fish asked whether you are "Miserable Git" over there!
I must say I see the similarities too!
Tony,
I'm sorry to hear the news. Who know though? Better things may come of it.
Cheers,
