Ooh err, fame at last...
I think you can guess my vote. I remember once having to sit through an 'In Concert' on TV because my father was convinced that Queen were musically superior to the crap I was listening to at the time (VdGG, King Crimson, Yes, Caravan, Camel etc. etc.). This opinion was solely based on Bohemian Rhapsody (which IMHO is the most overrated piece of twaddle ever). After a few songs he had to agree with me! All those mock opera vocals and lumpen heavy rock riffing...

Queen was a rock group for people who don't like rock music. Those stupid Brian May solos, silly vocals and the like.
hey if we got rid of stupid solo's and silly vocals from rock music if wouldn't leave a great deal left.
Does this mean all the other bands I like are not rock music then, You know: Led Zepplin, Rush, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Smashing Pumkins, Nirvana, REM etc etc etc

Greeny, you're allowed to say this because it's absolutely true. The rest of the album is classic though.
Hey I didn't start on the rest of the album, which to be fair isn't as bad as this but the opening 3 tracks with their fabled band interactions are just self indulgent rambles. As for band members telepathic like understanding, yeh right, you solo for 10 minutes I'll make the tea and start again in a bit.
They sound to me like a band all playing different pieces, I suspect a couple of them probably fell asleep at some point and on awaking just continued from where they were.

Yeah, that's it! Bohemian Rhapsody is to me the esence of Queen. It's so damned impressive, as long as you don't actually listen to it, it's fine if you hear it, but listen to it ... it's preposterous.

So why was it voted the number one all time song by VH1 veiwers then?

See Peter's succint appraisal of the song and the key word in your response ... VIEWERS.
The accompanying video was initially impressive at the time and probably best viewed with the sound off.

Look at the majority of Number 1 records - total bollocks but the public put them there by popular demand.
Same can be said for the majority of goverment leaders...................

Queen are brilliant, and News Of The World is I think their best album. love the cover. freddie was an astonishingly talented performer, and had an amazing voice. he's sadly missed.

Sir.
I find your superficial, dim-witted, homophobic remarks very insulting.

Trevor,
My reply wasn't meant in that way. Maybe my english isn't good enough.
If I caused any offence ,which clearly I did, I apologize.

Here's a challenge for you Robbie,
Name a Dutch band that has had such a profound effect on the music scene as queen has?
