New LP12 plinth/top plate

Anyone know how much this would cost? Apart from making my TT look new(ish), would it have any sonic benefits?

Yours in anticipation.

Is the best way to get a nice finish without streaks etc. on stainless steel.

Small amount on a cloth should do it.

Re: Baby Oil

How many babies are required for a typical top plate and how are they processed?

Chaps

Assuming it is stainless and that there is no laquer etc, baby oil rubbed in with very fine wire wool will produce a mirror like finish. But only use the very very fine stuff.

To prevent damage to surrounding componets, play safe and use autosalvo and a cloth.

Regards

No, I don't think replacing these two parts would make much of a difference to the sound but if your plinth is a mess a nice one would make you feel a lot better :0) My wife had an old LP12 with a brand new plinth and the plinth does make it look like almost a new deck.

I believe a new top plate is part of the Ninja mod that mana have done in the past.

If you have an external PSU the top plate can be manufactured without a cut-out for the switch,I believe the Ninja mod involves this along with thicker stainless steel.
