At what point do you think "If I just ride really fast towards that (?) and launch myself, if I don't break every bone in my body then that will be really cool."
These guys are clearly wired differently from me.

No it's OK the emergency services can come to the aid of these people, that put themselves at risk. What's the harm? Only some poor sod who has a genuine accident, can't get the help they need.
How glad I am that when I was young, the "exciting" things we did were out of the general populations way.
I guess it's much better to convert the pavements into a raceway.

Yeah it would be much better for society that he did nothing except some drugs, theft to fund it and oh I don't know...why not add some assault in there. Yes, I feel that would be much more appreciated.
If people did not push the boundaries then the human race would never have moved on. I'm sure there are many things achieved that were thought crazy and reckless that are now revered and honoured appropriately so now.....Edmund Hilary anyone?

How many others were they annoying or putting at risk?
I'm sure these guys are pushing the boundaries of human life, not.

I prefer to take a bus.

Yep. I'm a Mountain Biker, but the guys who do this stuff are not human.
In a good way...

The back drop of Edinburgh is quite nice too.
As for your response BigH.....I'd expect nothing less. I'm sure people said that of many sportsmen, Colin McCrae, Damon Hill or every rugby player.....:taking unnecessary risks, endangering others blah blah blah. Just do us a favour and go away.

It was nice to see him getting it wrong to start with.
But what a skill set! Fantastic stuff.
I wish I could ride as well, without smashing rims.

Did they do their sports on the public pavements, I think not. Sorry if I happen to have a view different to yours.
I'm sorry for you if you think this is acceptable behaviour in a public place, I put them with the fuckwits that skateboard under the NO skateboarding sign in our town center.Just because they are to lazy to got to the skate park.

Howard is no troll, but he may be out of time with our time.
I hope he will not mind me saying this, as I happen to agree with him in respect of the behaviour filmed.
Yes the guy is a skilled athlete on a bicycle, but that does not make everything he does right. After all what he did made no individual's life better, and could have adversely affected the lives of others.
Simply put, IMO, this is not suitable or admirable behavior for the public space. There are places where it would be suitable, and it should be done there.

Chris,
To smile is to be better! I understand what you are saying.
Even though Howard is certainly not a Troll.

I disagree George, I love kids doing creative stuff like this...it's wonderous. Better to live one day as a tiger than a thousand as a lamb.
If he were my lad though, I'd not be buying him another if he broke it.
Have a gander at this, keep an eye out for the leader in yellow, bottom left and Theo Boss riding next to him

Dear Mat,
I do think there is a difference between what one might think was acceptable or noraml to do for one's self and what one might gernerally accept for others.
I would expect that I would be harder on myself than others.
I do get slightly fed up with young, naive, and thoughtless people who do things that cause [for example] the emergency services to have to rescue them and save their lives at the public expense, but on the other hand people are only young for all too brief a time, even if some seem to remain foolish all their lives [for example Gordon Brown], so I kinda manage to warm to juveniles who push the bounbdaries, even if I think they are being [naturally eneough] immature.
On the other hand I also can fully understand people like Howard who get understandably frustrated with people who don't seem to consider others as much as might be expected considering their years ...
My bike:
A rather stark picture taken in my old house just before the move..
I do not suppose, dear Mat, that you would expect that anyone who is old enough to appreciate the beauty of this almost antique, would be any danger to any other road user - at least riding a bike!

George, that is a truly beautiful bicycle. A lovely Carlton and in wonderful condition...great to see it George, one from the golden age of British framebuilding.
I must admit, I'm soft on youngsters who 'live a little' on bikes, the ends of ropes etc. I've been a mountain rescue volunteer for years and I never mind being called out to the brave or adventurous, only the stupid or ill prepared. Young folk sometimes do silly things, but it generally makes them better adults.
Maybe if our two great clowns, Cameron and Brown (I cut politicians a lot of slack, but these two really are at the bottom of the heap) had 'lived a little' they may have developed into more admirable adults.
Take care of that machine George...but as for immaturity? Growing up?...what would ever posses anybody to harbour such an idea?

I guess I'm squarely in the "wow, this is amazing!" camp. I'd even go so far as to say it's inspiring, as it challenges our assumptions about what human beings are capable of - before I saw the video I would not have believed some of those manoeuvres were possible. OK, there is the issue of recklessness and putting others at risk, but the guy's skill level appears commensurate to the challenges he is taking on - so, it could be argued that he is no more a risk to other road users than me, as a distinctly average cyclist on the streets of Sheffield.
I'm not usually impressed by this sort of thing, but this is really something else - thanks for posting!

Perhaps I was misunderstood in my earlier comments.
I have nothing but admiration for the riding skills displayed in the clips, I just would'nt do it!
