Teen Banned From US For Barracking Obama

I like to think that if I was the 'police in the UK' that I would tell the US to naff off.

I would love to believe what you believe. But I have a weary eye towards individuals who commit such foolish things. Are they capable? Do they have enough hate? I am not in a position to determine such. In this case, I must rely on my government to be the best judge.

If he is guilty of only being an ass? I am sure the truth will come out and the embargo will be lifted.

David,
In your heart-if someone threatened your daughter....... Would you let them back in your house?
Simplified,but you get it.

Marc,

I was once threatened by a ten year old girl who was attending a playscheme I ran. I didn't ban her, because she posed no danger.

This discussion is going nowhere and is likely to go nowhere, I feel. I'm surprised by your blind trust in the US authorities. I certainly don't trust ours that way.

Stolen off the internet-

10) The correct genitalia. Possibly attached to your head.

9) Eternal youth. Act like a kid! 'I know you are, I said you are, but what am I?' gets you a long way in question time.

8) The Religion. Crap on about your faith... & by FAITH I mean one of CHRISTIAN ones - nothing too 'terrorism'.

7) Glasses. They won't take you seriously unless you at least look like you can count to ten.

6) A pact with Satan. You are never going to get ANYWHERE without supping with Beelzubub himself and signing in blood.

5) An honest face. So when you're lying out of every orifice you look like you've just ingested a truth serum.

4) The ability to spout rhetoric with no actual knowledge behind it, like "lets just print more money then!"

3) A wife and two children... and NEVER get caught in strip joints or with hookers unless you KNOW your wife will stick by you.

2) Muscles, a Germanic accent, and a marriage into the Kennedy family are all excellent starting points...

1) Ear hair. Never underestimate the importance of visible body hair on a pollie: rugged, manly, and commands respect

And Kiss hands-shake babies.

Criteria for those you who needed to know how to be a politician in California.

They all smile. They are all nice.

I do agree this topic has been beat to death

Blind trust? You make assumptions? In this one case,I think it is fair to think that my f up government has done the correct thing. Other than that, I wouldn't trust them to tie my shoe.

Before you board your next airline flight, make a funny about having a bomb. Since there's no actual bomb, no one will be endangered, so no harm, no foul, right? When apprehended, be sure to tell the the security folks how extraordinarily up their own arses they are. Laughs all around!

Moral: there are some agencies around with which one simply shouldn't f*ck. Being a drunk teenager isn't an excuse.

Totally agree.

If someone is going to abuse a Head of State this really shows, at best they have no idea about respect. At worst they are cabable of something really serious.

No country wants to open it's doors to idiots like that, drunk or otherwise.

Marc,

Yet you trust them to have judged the threat level posed by this kid accurately and are convinced that if they did turn out to have over-reacted they would back down.

Trust? No.
Process? Yes.
Criteria? Yes.
Kid will need to petition the US embassy in England to open his case. The FBI, Secret Service,D.H.L.S.,local government, his attorney and parents will be involved in clearing him.
His parents will be put through the mill.

This kid sure as sh*t opened a can of whip ass.

You'll try it then, with the airport security folks? I'd love to hear how it turns out for you.

Now there's a good end to this thread.

I'm out.

I think this is exactly the problem. You, Marc, and many like-minded Americans seem simply to lack a sense of perspective. It would be utterly foolish of any reasonable person to underestimate any real threat to security but is it really so hard to judge things on their merits?

I think that what this thread demonstrates, if nothing else, is a clear clash of thinking between Brits and Americans when it comes to issues like this. Certainly I think it is true to say that we Brits are not nearly as reverential towards our government and head of state as you guys clearly are stateside.

Wrong! Very wrong! Marc's statement is his personal view and I respect his view but it does not mean that his view reflects the general view here, and I agree that that the US authority is a bit over the top on this naughty boy! I think in this country you can take swipes at almost anything, including the US government and the President, but of course there are some topics that are tricky to to be discussed in public, same as in the UK, same as anywhere else this world. Personally, with due respect, I think the UK is more like a police state in my own experience, although I like its people and its culture.

It's never a good idea to mess with US authorities , they are all bloody armed, and have no sense of humour.

Same could be said of London Cabbies. Big Grin

It probably never even got to Obama and actions taken were of an automatic nature even if it was just a wisper of a threat. He's not a US citizen so he's got no rights here. I think it an over reaction but officials have better things to do. Easier to punt. The kid was dumb enough to get tracked. That's the saddest part. McCartney and P Hilton are banned from Japan and they never threatened anyone. Best to observe good or very stealthy behavior when abroad or in this case when emailing.

There's more of us with humor that there are Brits. Winker Now, %s may be a different matter. Smile I do fail to see the humor in the email. I do see the over reaction by authorities but no humor in that email.

Are you kidding me? Do you think he knows one word of this story? Do you think he personally made the decision? Come on!!!

They probably get hundreds of emails a day that they pursue in this same manner. And no doubt it the same with every country's leader.

Grow up.
