Anyone else play cricket?

This weekend is always one of my favourites of the year. I've dug out my old kit and caught a whiff of old summer grass on my cricket boots. I've oiled the bat (and would like to oil my knees) and on saturday the might of Skipton CI first team will once again take to the field. The trees may not yet be in leaf, and we will probably have to de-ice the clubhouse windows, but this marks the first day of summer for me. Great.

A great game. I played for years and in various clubs at various levels. Cricket chaps were invariably amiable decent people and a good time was had by all. Enjoy your season Bruce.

I still play - not particularly well, mind you (probably thanks to the hellish hang-over after the night before)!

We only have one or two fixtures a year these days but as a rambling side, we usually make a weekend of it and it's always great fun. Which reminds me, time to scout out this year's "ringer"...
