We Want Your System!

Posted by: Richard Dane on 26 November 2003

For our next newsletter we would like to feature a few real-life all-Naim systems. We are looking for volunteers to step forward, the only requirements being that the system is all-Naim (cassette decks, CDR machines etc.. notwithstanding) and that you live within reasonable distance of London.

If you're up for it, send us an e-mail at Naim with details of your system, a picture if possible, and your address. We'll then be in touch...

Dev, your Naim is already in the hat.....

Richard

Hello Richard,

Dev's sistem sucks. Pick me! My system isn't exactly a sistem (see below), but I have a Naim bag -- does that count?

Richard -

Presumably the more new-style kit the better? So we olive or chrome bumper owners are out in the cold?

Hmph!

Not at all Tim. We're open to all ages of Naim gear and anything from a killer entry-level setup to a full-on Active 500, DBL setup.

Anybody who doesn't make it into this newsletter can have another go at the next one and so on....

Richard--

How about "Reasonable distance from Ft. Collins, CO?" Alternatively, (pun intended), I live a reasonable distance from London--using astronomical units...

With either of those two substitutions, I humbly volunteer...

Best,

Bob

Richard,

Fancy a visit to Groningen ? Good restaurants and all that...

Rob.

While my system does include an LP-12 and Isobariks, everything else is Naim.

And I'm just a short drive from the Grand Canyon. You do want to see the Grand Canyon, don't you?!? That's going to be awfully difficult if you're chained to the London vicinity.

Phil,

If I can clear it with Paul, I'm there...

Isn't the old London Bridge not too far away from you....?

Bob, Robbie,

thanks for the offers guys. Not sure that Phil Ward can travel too far from London this time. Maybe we'll do an international feature in the future...

We've had some great looking (and sounding?) systems so far so keep them coming....

Richard,

You've blown it now you've let slip it'll likely be me wearing my dirty and sordid "journalist" hat that does the door-stepping.

Richard,

Seattle would be a great place to visit...I can get you into microsoft company store if that helps.

Chris,

Is that really the best reason to visit Seattle! Shame I'm a Mac die-hard Smile

Phil

PS. Richard, yes I know, two posts in one day. I'll go have a little lie down.

CDX/CDPS, 32.5/snaps/160, black SBL's, A4 and/or A5 cable. The system sits on a self made lash up of a support that resembles Projekt because they aren't made anymore. If you want to donate a Fraim to make it an all Naim system I'll give it some serious thought. Wink

I live in Yorkshire, so nowhere near London and I'm considering upgrading so the CDX/CDPS may be gone soon.

My flat-mates on our last holiday (I took the picture).

[Edited for Mr Ward; that really is me at the top of the page, though!]

Phil,

I too am a die hard mac guy...so instead I can get Richard into the Boeing company store...I think it is time Naim had a corporate Jet. 777 with a big Naim logo on the tail. I can see it now.

I'm not sure you're aware that your catchment area really doesn't allow you boys any decent time to get a tan in before xmas. I'm reckon you, Paul Darwin, and Doug would welcome an excuse to head on down under, pick up a case or three of Cloudy Bay [oh, and what about that La Strada Pinot Noir?], take a few system snaps, eat a good meal or two, and back to heathrow in time for the xmas rush?

You could even bring facsimilies of the rugby world cup to taunt the locals.

You know it makes sense. Cool

Errr, Thomas,

I know it's an easy mistake to make, I mean perhaps you typed in the wrong window, but this is the Naim Forum - you know, hi-fi, music, that kind of thing? Your flat-mate boasting was clearly intended for some other "discussion" group.

I do have a Naim CD, so all it needs is the Fraim.

Hey guys, Aberdeen is lovely this time of year!! As well as a system review you'll get kippers and frostbite thrown in.I also know where a one eyed whore hangs out. Consider me in!

It's about a 3-hour drive west of here. I haven't seen London Bridge since I was about 5 years old and it was still in the original location.

Hey Richard,

I'm in sunny Saudi Arabia with an all-Naim system. (check my profile). Besides the local dealer here has NO new stuff to demo and could most likely use a "pep-talk" as well. (I'm dieing to demo a new 252 w/supercap) Better come down and give your man here a little shot in the arm so-to-speak Wink

Thomas,

having been admonished by Mr Ward, you edited your post. Do I understand you dug out a photo of some of your friends who you thought should be reasonably representative of forum members?

How utterly flattering.

I've got a very tasty 32.5/110 so I guess that settles it.
Posted on: 27 November 2003 by P

Guess all I need now is my own personal wind farm stylie electricity generator...

And deaf neighbours....

Richard,

Why not go for Stockholm? Its close to London (<1 hour by flight), lots of Naim systems around in combination with vodka and blond girls who speak perfect english... Big Grin

Ok, maybe not the hottest place on earth for the moment but you wont be outsid, will you? Smile

Tell Doug and Paul that you will be back in a week or something...

Just an idea!

Indeed, since Mr Ward couldn't handle the sight of my (by no means flat) flat-mates I thought I'd just substitute the holiday snap with someting that more "appropriate". I reckon that could be Dev on the left, Nick Lees on the right, and you in the middle ;-)
