Headphones

Does anyone have a view on the relative merits of the Stax line of headphones (the cheapish ones at £400) vs a headine/napsc + grados.

cheers,

Dev

Stop thinking about headphones and start using telephones.

You need to spend some money and get up to the electrostatic earspeakers and you will hear really tremendous music.£1000 plus

The Naim headline+NPSC (not sure of spelling)+ Grado RS1's got me though with great involvement. That is the best testimony IMHO.

Hi Dev,

I had demo'd both 6 months ago and found Stax is a clear winner (even though I really wanted to get the headline at the time), of course I had bought the Stax at the end. No regret whatsoever.

i've done the dem and thought the stax was just brilliant - it sounded great with jazz and ravi shankar but carl cox's latest techno masterpiece nearly fried them. the headline didn't quite work as well with the napsc/grados, the timing was all there but it was a bit harsh at high volumes, it improved with a hicap for sure, but it didn't have flow and ease of listening as the stax. so the stax it is. thanks once again for the advice.

Hi there Mullet bloke!

I,m using A pair of sexy sennhieser HD600,s fed by a Creek OBH-11SE headphone amp with dedicated OBH-24v regulated power supply. Chord Chrysalis din at source between it and an 82.

Sounds fast, neutral & transparant with excellent clarity (just my opinion) I Don't no whether you have tried it but it's well worth a listen!

Cheers for now
