Naim CDP connectivity

I know that for years Naim has avoided the use of dig outputs on their CD players. I've no idea if this is meant to be for a genuine audible reason, but whatever.

What I would like to question is any thoughts on adding digital inputs?
I rather like the sound from the DACs/analogue output section that I've heard from various Naim CDPs and their AV2.

So how about being able to connect up other sources. After all, Wadia and Quad offer this as an option, and it does seem rather sensible.

Do you mean being able to feed a CDP into your prefered DAC? I've heard the sonic benefits of doing this, but obviously not on a Naim CDP, cos they don't think it works. Mind you, adding a power supply has brought about the biggest jump in performance I've ever heard (on a CD5).

Naim's belief is adding any circuitry before the DAC increase the master clock jitter. Input and output digital connections have the same effect on this.
Even the HDCD decoder is a problem. It is not present on a CD5, not only for the price of the chip and royalties, but for the complexity increase of the data path. On CDX2 and CDS3, the chip is disconected from the path for non HDCD disks. Even if the chip has a pass through.

NANA used to do this sort of mod. No idea of cost or benefits.

Actually Phil the mod was done to one CDS player that was needed for Naim (record label) purposes in the US. It was never a commercial update or option.
