Alright guys, gals and anoraks...who out their:
1)Uses mana soundbases under their sbl's
Good thing?
Or
2) Uses the old crosshead screw into the carpeted floor with the speaker spikes going into the screw head
Good thing?
Or
3) Just the old fashion plain speaker spike straight into the carpeted floor
Good thing?
Happy toe tapping and head flapping.

I've had mine for seven years and have a concrete screed floor, so the spikes go through carpet onto that and are rock solid.
Generally; crosshead screws are used in wooden floors to obtain better stability.
Mana is used to taste. It pushes the sound and tonal balance in a certain direction.

I've used Soundbases for nearly two years now, stopping at Phase 3 (for now), suffice to say although i love my SBLs, they are by comparison poor performers once removed from the Soundbases.
For me they're the bollocks and have transformed my SBLs, providing what i call a more grown up and capable speaker all round...

I have heard SBLs on soundbases, and the sound becomes very brittle to my ears so the full 2 week demo would be required to asess your tastes.
Infact one thing I have slowley discovered is that SBLs seem to sound best if you can get away with spiking them directly to the floor.
I don't have that luxury, so they reside on two pennies, but before they have been on Nordost Pulsar Points, spiked Granite, unspiked granite and spiked MDF. In each case the bass was cleaned up (its a problem in my room) but the treble became very harsh, the return to just spikes sorted it every time.
So check out the sound bases by all means, and check other ways, but in the end you will probably do what I did, return the basics!

putting their SBL's on a base level of Fraim?

Geez.... fraiming sbl's....
I have only recently convinced myself(after much therapy) on Fraiming my black boxes in the not so distant future.
Thanks for your varying opinions; unfortunately mana is no longer retailed in NZ, so to try soundbases would be to BUY soundbases.
I've heard an old wives tale that the old cross head screws in the floor was an old epos naim trick; if my memory serves me correctly Paul S was once on the forum suggesting coach bolts, as you didn't have to muck around trying to line the spikes into the screw head.
Any way thanks for the input....better get back to my part time job as a male gigolo to save for the fraim
