Valentine's day

Posted by: Rasher on 14 February 2006

Don't forget chaps. What is supposed to be a spontaneous show of love turns into having a gun held at your head. I don't fully understand why the whole thing hasn't been scuppered by now, surely people must see the shallowness of it all? Or am I just a sad old cynic?
(Yeah, I got the card and roses this morning Roll Eyes) I feel like I'm on trial.

It must be fifteen years since I had one. [I have never sent one]. But the one I did get was a declaration of love not to me, but my lovely Welsh Border Collie. I knew who sent it, as well, but then she did babysit the dog when I went to Norway for a couple weeks now and again!

Me neither, and I've sent maybe 3 in my life.

Just yet another day for smug boring couples to lord it over the singletons.

Well..... Winker I've always received at least one card since I can remember (and none from my parents - what is that about anyway?).

I have of course already received my card and dozen red roses today Smile.

So Happy Valentine's Day everyone.

I remember once when I was a lot younger (and not married) getting 7 cards one year. My girlfriend at the time was not impressed. Big Grin
Those were the days, eh?!

Not my matter.
I'll not recieve any, so i'll not be forced to write stupid things i do not believe in.
It's very hard to try to find words to write "i love you" and discover at the same time that's not true.

..and you an Italian too, eh?!! What hope for the rest of us then. Frown

Thanks Rasher.
Sometimes, here in my place, i do feel like the black sheep in the herd.
Time for holydays away from here is getting urgent.

My wife phoned me at work to tell me that the roses I bought are half dead and obviously forced, and where did I get them from. I said that of course they are forced, there are millions of the damn things produced to be bought for the 14th Feb by poor blokes with a gun to their head and don't know what they are buying. Roll Eyes
Anyway, she has bought a really good bottle of red wine for tonight and told me not to bother with my pathetic attempts of flowers in the future, so I just hope she remembers that in a years time. She was laughing about it so I guess I'm in the clear for another year. I'm going to have a word with a friend of mine who bought his partner a £250 bag, because I know they all compare their prizes. It just isn't worth the stress. Frown

Your wife has sense of humor.
That's a good thing in a relationship.
When one consider the effort and not only the result.
So...................i wish you a happy Valentine night!

Thanks buddy

So where did you get them from? That's the problem with ordering them, you never know if you can trust the florists. Anyway, it is the thought that counts....... honest!

Why don't you, next year, get some other flower that isn't forced and mass produced. They will last longer then and there are a lot of spring flowers around at this time of year. Just not daffies, please.

I gave my g/f £50 to buy some new (sexy) underwear.

Win win situation I think. Cool

This isn't a plug but John Lewis have a great range.

I got my lovely significant other some flowers from them online which were quite imaginative,(Orchids, tulips and anemones), in an enamelled tin jug,(which she liked as much as the flowers), and the whole lot was courier despatched in a cardboard box and properly watered.

She'll now be able to use the jug again and again for flowers which will serve as a nice reminder to my yearly gesture of lurve....
