Integrating my NAP135's in to my Home Theater

Posted by: Robert Holloway on 31 October 2009

Hi there

Sad story - I have a CDS, SBL's and NAC52 all boxed in the attic not being used along with 4x 135s. I just don't listen to music anymore.

I have decided to bring down three of my 135's and integrate them into my home theater.

My Sony E9000 ES pre amp gives me multiple RCA pre outputs for each channel. However my Naim NAP 135 amps have very different inputs.

I want to use one each for the font right, front center and front left channels.

Can anyone recommend a cable solution?

Thanks
Rob

Over here there is flash back cables on ebay that seem to have every configuration on earth.

Suffice to say its all doable.

Incidently, there is a cost involved but you can get a unity gain feature added to your 52, this would then be fed by the front outputs on the pioneer. In this was the 52 can deliver the left and right channel which will be better than the pioneers. I would then use another 135 for the centre. The rears can be driven from the pioneer.

It would be a seriously kick ass set up

Hi Gary

Thanks for your reply, but I'm a little confused

I'd thought I needed to take the RCA / Phone out from my Sony E9000 ES pre amp. I'd then send front, left and center to 3 x 135s and the rears would be handled by two channels from my existing AV amp

My query involved the cables as the Naim 135's have very different inputs and seem to have two different channels.

At the moment I simply use 5 RCA / Phono cables to connect my AV pre to my AV power amp

Thx

I've done some research - Is this the solution?

http://www.monoprice.com/produ...=4777&seq=1&format=2

On the site they mention balanced vs unbalanced signals. I have no idea what they are talking about.

Again, many thanks

Nope - you are unbalanced to unbalanced connecting the Sony to the 135's. You need a simple RCA to XLR - but wired in the Naim XLR congiguration (see the amp user manual for the pin outs) - as Gary said - google flashback cables and Dave will supply exactly what you need. Waste of some good amps - i'd be tempted to get rid if you dont need them (as there is always good demand for 135's) and get a better processor / amp.

Good luck.

I can't agree the 135s would be wasted - as Gary has posted previously they'd make for a superb surround sound system.

Hi there

It seems like it's quite doable. One 135 for each of my front speakers

The SBL's, NAC52 and CDS remain boxed in the attic :-( Bought them all over to the US from Uxbridge Audio and then got Naim Chicago to change the power supplies to US 110

All I need now are the cables from RCA to XLR. I'm in the US and wondering why I need expensive UK cables and then to ship them to the US. Eeek

I know Balanced Audio Technology sells a rca to xlr adapter. I used these with my BAT amplifier in the past and they worked well.
