Flac Tags

Guys,
I'm just taken delivery of my Uniti and I'm having some issues with the tags on FLAC files I hope someone may be able to shed some light on. The uniti menu can't see the artist, album or genre in the main menu, if however you go through 'all tracks" or "folders" and play a track it shows the artist album and track name ok in the playing window. The Files are stored on a Buffalo Linkstation duo, and I've tied MAX, XLD, and "itunes to FLAC" to rip CDs or convert, all produce the same result. So I'm beginning to think it may be an issue with the media server on the buffalo, has anyone managed to get a buffalo working with the Uniti and FLAC? or does any one have any suggestions on how I can make it work?

Thanks

I think the issue is probably with the NAS. I ripped all my CD's with DB poweramp and the Foobar UPNP plugin did not do as good a job as the software on my ReadyNAS Duo. Both UPNP software were viewing exactly the same files.

See if there is a newer version of the software for the Linkstation? It may well do a better job of sorting the tags.

Thanks Dave,
This kind of confirms what I thought, however I only just bought the Buffalo so I may see if I can exchange it. Are there any recommended nas drives from the media server perspective? I've seen the Naim list of tested ones but I believe this is just testing the performance not the capabilities of the media server.

Thanks

I would try usings some upnp software on your PC with the files on the NAS just to confrim the source of the problem before going and replacing any hardware. Foobar and foo_upnp plugin are both free and simple to setup.

I started out with a Thecus N2200 NAS however after having a number of problems with it I decided to take the safe option and get the Netgear I have now as I knew that it worked fine with the Uniti.

I changed the Buffalo with a Netgear Readynas Duo and everything is fine.
So FYI don't try and use the Buffalo linkstation duo (LS-WXL)mine was brand new and had the latest versions firmware available, and the media server wouldn't display tags on FLAC files correctly and on AACs it didn't order the tracks correctly for albums with more than 9 tracks. It would display the tracks in the order 1,10,11,2,3,4,5etc. On the plus side it would allow you to pause a track which the netgear doesn't appear to do.

I can't pause with my Netgear either, so its not just you. Its not the end of the world though.
