How long before my system sounds at its best.

My new system arrived on christmas eve, and it has been powered up ever since, it has only had about 5 hours actual playing time, but the difference is already starting to show. The manual states about five days is that just powered up.

Naim told me that switching the power on and off repeatedly (but not rapidly) speeds up running in.

The best thing to do is to put a cd in the player and put it on repeat for a couple of days (or nights) so as to speed up the burning in process a bit.

As I have commented many times on this before: I have detected improvements after continuous power up from new, after 6 weeks. Some have reported changes after even longer times. Having said that, you should get 90% plus of the final sound within 3 weeks. That final improvement, though relatively small in size, is crucial in converting a "good" sound into one that is sublime.

From talking to friends who have NAIM the run in time is never ending.

So by definition it sounds best the day you sell and upgrade.

Then you start all over again with the run in time on your new NAIM equipment.
