Rega Elas worthwhile?

Does anyone have any experience with these on the end of naim amps?
I am thinking of upgrading my Ruark Epilouges, and the Elas look like the right sort of budget for me, second hand prices seem reasonable.

Hi Simon,
Try a quick search on the Forum,you will find that there is a fair amount of info available and that Ela's are generally well received as a viable alternative to non-Naim speakers.
I confess that I have not heard the Ruark Epilouges that you are currently using,but I do have a freind with a Planet,Nait 3 and Ela combination that works very well together !
(I may be slightly biased on this question,owning a pair myself
)
Second hand prices make them a very attractive proposition indeed.(assuming top condition etc.)But the usual disclaimers apply,yes they are very fast speakers,very musical etc,but they are not the last word on sheer base "weight".
It's a question of priorites and preferred presentation,but taken in isolation,very good indeed.
Regards
Chris
(ps. The above opinion applies only to the previous incarnation of the Ela's,not the current 2000 veriaty which seem to have a different sound and presentation,some like this,I myself,prefer the Ela mk2's)

CDX/82/180/Ela 2000s - a beautiful system. This is what my dealer and I cobbled together to make sure that my new, out-of-the-box CDX was working as it should.
I chose the speakers. There isn't much to choose between the ELA 2000s and my Naos. The Naos' just have a bit more bass weight and slam that's all.
Regards,
Steve.
