Bizarre digital TV signal anomaly...

Is the 8 07 time consistent through out the year?
If not is it related to the time the street lights are switching on.

What elses is happening in the house, neighbourhood at 8:07?

It's been happening for about three weeks, so the streetlights are not the problem (nice try, though...). The neighbours are not having the same problem. Nothing has changed inside the house or in the adjacent properties.

If you do nothing how long does it take to stabilise.

Have you switched off all other devices in the house including central heating just before the key time to see if the problem persists.

Stabalisation - well, I was up at about 02:30 the other morning and it had stopped, but it's still going when I hobble up the wooden hills at about 11pm...

Is it a Freeview box? If so, could you take it to another location (friend/nieghbour/relative) to ensure that it's nothing to do with the box?

Similarly, could you borrow another box to see if that is impacted in the same way?

Once you've ruled out the box, you'd at least be down to just looking for 'other factors'.

(Are any of the family being abducted by (punctual) aliens on a nightly basis?)

It'd be interesting to see if it stabilised at the same time every night (although a complete pain to find out). Perhaps you could record the affected signal from 8pm each night - then you could fast forward to work out when it finished.

If possible check two houses up the street and two down as it could be a problem on the shared electrical phase.

I heard that the other week on the radio. Quality.

Well, replaced the analogue aerial with a quality digital aerial and pukka cable. Hasn't made any difference.
I admit defeat. All I can do now is hope that it will eventually disappear of it's own accord in a reverse of the way it first appeared two months ago.
