They say artists give their lives for their art, so do birds:-

This was on the French window when I came in this afternoon, the artist was dead on the patio, Walter Pigeon I think.

Agreed, great picture. I get this a lot, but problem is due to the house/garden layout the birds hit a glancing blow, so I get to do a lot of headache nursing rather than undertaking.

I tried the hawk silhouettes, but they did not work for my pigeons or blackbirds.
The window crashing season for me tends to be early & mid summer when the blackbirds are either crazy with the breeding/territory stuff or they are youngsters without the required window glass appreciation.
We draw the curtains at the other end of the room and that stops them thinking they have a tunnel to fly through. Plus its a good sun shade.

Howard's picture begs the question as to what was the last thing that went through that pigeons mind = his anal gland

well at least you captured the image even tho it was his last moment.

Blue, that's quite a nice display of carnivorous plants. I try to grow orchids but not much luck getting them to rebloom, and I have a horticulture degree. They really need to be outdoors not in a window.

animal abuse as "art"

y'know i'm getting really sick of all these people using the "art" excuse to do horrible and unethical shit. pardon my language but it's really pissing me off. there's this, then some girl at Yale or somethin that supposedly gave herself multiple abortions and video taped it all and is displaying the videos and the blood as "art", then some guy at another college performing oral sex and defecating on someone and calling it "art"

I remember the same happening to a newly installed kitchen window in the house I grew up in, about 35 years ago.

My father had built a new window which had one big pain of glass, and was opposite the dining room windows. Not long after it was completed there was an almighty crack sound from the kitchen, we rushed through to see what it was, and found a crack about 3 feet long in the window glass.

We went outside to find the culprit, there was a pigeon on the floor. My father went to pick it up to bury it, and it came too, very groggy, and very lucky. We left it alone, and it flew off a few minutes later.

We never replaced the cracked glass, but did hang a net curtain in the window. No more birds with headaches, or worse.

Speaking for my self, it took bloody ages, I had to throw about 15 or 20 pidgeons at my window to get that effect. It's really knackering, dirtying up the window between takes was a bastard.

I think you will agree though the result was worth it.
