upgrading pt2

Many thanks to everyone who replied to my previous request about upgrading. I haven't actually done anything yet, but I now have something in mind which I would like to share with you.
To recap: I currently have an LP12/EkosII/Klyde (this I will be getting back from my dealer v.soon),32.5/110 into Saras.
The consensus seemed to be that I should upgrade the power amp for something like a 180/250 with hicap, and if possible put 72 boards into the 32.5
I've come across someone who has a 32.5 with 72 boards, and a 250 with a 'hicap p/s', all for just £850. The quotation marks are there cos apparently this is a homemade equivilant, not the real thing. He said it's almost identical to the hi-cap though.
The 32.5 is 14 years old, the 250 a whopping 19!
Do others on the list think this sounds like a good buy? One problem is that there's about 250 miles between us, so auditioning might be tricky. I'm loathed to buy something without hearing it first.
So - will this set-up provide a substantial improvement in sound quality over my current 32.5/110?
Oh, by the way, the preamp has mc boards, 'k' ones I believe, which are the most suitable, right?
Sorry for asking so many questions again. But as you can tell, my knowledge of hi-fi is pretty limited.
Thanks everyone,
Paul
