Norway

Last week i went to Norway. One week without my naim set. Frown
I was near Sogndal. It was a beautiful area. Lots of nature and glacier and mountains. Didn't know it was so beautiful. Are there other naimpies been to Norway? And where are the naim members from Norway live? I was 1 day in Bergen and try to find a naim store. But there wasn't naim at all ( i couldn't find it )

See here some nice PIC's of Norway.

Many years ago I hitch hiked from Malmo to Stockholm to Kiruna, then by train into Norway and Narvik, then hitchhiked down to Trondheim an then to Oslo via Dombas and Lillehammer.

Great trip very friendly and helpful people, on a couple of occasions I had lifts from journalists who took my picture and asked me about myself etc and had an article printed in the local paper. I think I was "newsworthy" because it was late September and all the regular tourists had fled south.

Been there a few times on business since (when I was gainfully employed) enjoyed all the trips but also seen some rain and low temperatures.

However the big trip was the most memorable visit.

I seen it last week on the weather forecast but in Sogndal it was a clear blue sky. We got luck.

I hope the sun is shining for you.

Are there naim shops in Norway? And do you know the area where I've been? ( nigardsbreen )

I know the area where you've been. Pretty nice scenery.

We have one shop in Oslo who sells Linn, Naim and Rega.
Dont know of any else. Naim/Linn are quite small here in Norway. But the high-end market is large, I think

christian - what kind of audiophile gear is popular there then - tubes, american, ??
Posted on: 03 July 2007 by Chalshus
The last two years, at least Naim have gained more popularity here.

A shop in Oslo sells most Avantgarde Acoustics in Europe.
Krell, Audio Pysic, JmLab, Klipsch, Martin Logan, Denon, Maratz, B&W, Dali, Cayin, Ming DA Shanling, Electrocompaniet, DcS, Cary, Burmester, Sonus Faber, Primare, Dynaudio, Bladelius,Accuphase...

Everything else, I guess. Winker

Mrs d and myself celebrated our recent "milestone" birthdays with a cruise to Norway at the end of May.

We visited Geiranger, Oldin, Flam and Bergan. The weather was superb and because the ship docked each morning at about 08:00 and sailed at about 18:00 we were able to spend each day hiking in the surrounding areas. For example at Flam we took the train up to Myrdal then walked back down the valley. The scenery is spectacular.

Well worth a holiday visit.

Cheers

You have been to flamsbana, you see the waterfall with the princesses?

A nice thread, Robbert!

Well, here is a picture of my home town.

And my working place is the factory seen in the front. It's europe's largest aluminium factory.
The mountains are so high in fact, that there is no sunshine here from beginning of November till the end of February.

Another picture from a mountain nearby:

Best Regards

Scandanavia - I am being inclusive here, seems to do scenery. Those pictures of Norway look great. Reminds me of how beautiful Seden was last year. I have a trip to Finland lined up in 2009 and must find an excuse to now visit Norway.

Yes, the train stopped for about 5 minutes on the way up so we could all take pictures of the waterfall. Then the amplified music started and two princesses appeared (one at a time) in blue costumes, one on the walls of a ruined building and the other from the misty rocks in the waterfall. A bit tackey IMHO but inevitable, given the previous commentry on the train about beautiful maidens in the mountains appearing and tempting weak-willed men away from their wives etc etc

The surrounding mountain scenery during the train ride was very picturesque.

Cheers

It is a very touristy attraction over there. I also think specially for the Japanese tourist.

If the local paper you are refering to is anything like the ones where I live (Luleå, Sweden - a port at the top of the Gulf of Bothnia) then it was probably you or "Cat stuck in tree." Obviously a slow day on the adventurous feline front.

Norway is nice, great scenery. It goes down hill (Winker) as you travel east over Sweden and onto Finland, which has to be the flattest place on earth. A problem made worse by the fact that you can usually only see about 2m to the next tree so forget any grand vistas.

I found parts of Sweden to be very pretty - Småland for example is beautiful - but nothing quite compares to the grandeur and majesty of parts of Norway imo.
