Hi,
as a RC car 1/10 driver and naimoholic, I am interested did someone of you share both of these hobbies with me?

We used to have 4 or 5 of us at work who would race Mardave? electric F1 type cars. We had a circuit on the roof of the exchange were we used to work.Back in the day I was really into slot car racing, custom built stuff 1/32 and 1/24 (not scalextric).

Yeah! Home made brass chassis angle winders with floating slot pick up and hinged body mounts. Mura or Orange motors. Bodies where the paint job weighed more than the polycarbonate. Those were the days!

So do you guys know Dave Harvey of Progressive Audio?

He built me a slot car that wiped the floor with the competition at my family's Christmas Scalextric Open championships a few years ago(tee hee). Mind you, those 'Spanish' Scalextric cars with magnets were pretty hot too on a Scalextric track, although probably not by the standards of any of you Naimees who used tracks with separate spur PSUs. On the question of RC car racing, how do you get over the problem that the directions are reversed every time the car comes towards? That's always put me off.

Was a heavy addict years ago, spent many a late night rebuilding electric RC cars during racing season... Maybe I'll do it again someday. My kids are not interested in the maintenance aspect of this hobby yet, but once they're there we'll do it. I won't be the chief mechanic for very long, they'll have to learn to do all that themselves. Great fun for sure!

If you think thats bad, you want to try flying an RC aeroplane!

Absolutely, RC planes are a different animal altogether. Especially when they are coming at you... Left? Right? Oh S**T!!!

Up and down are worse, and more expensive!I've done both. A sudden stop for a model aircraft is usually more devastating than a car wreck.
