The poor dog,in life the firmest friend,
The first to welcome, foremost to defend.
Give yours a hug tonight.
And maybe a bone.

Also, the least demanding. Give them food and honest affection, and unfaithfulness is not even a thought that is suppressed. Only the horse demonstrates equal nobilty in my experience. Though, of course, both can have off days temper-wise!

This one's a wee cutie....and going on 80!!
She's still a puppy at heart though, and loves to play with her favourite toy - the snowflake.....
...she misses her mum though when she's at work during the day.....
...and doesn't like baths, although her tail still wags away....so we think it's just an act!
Here she is just chillin' in the sun......
...it's a dogs life....
Cheers,
Ali

Our dog, a German Shepherd, is the sweetest natured, most intelligent animal I've encountered. She does get a bit testy with other, trespassing, dogs but is otherwise pretty well faultless.
She displays a degree of patience and forbearance with humans which is quite remarkable. I'm sure she understands a fair bit of what goes on. I was never really a "dog person" but as the kids grew up and wandered off the responsibility for looking after her fell to me and I must admit I've become attached.

To a dog you're a best friend. To a cat you're staff.
