Vinyl in Chicago, IL.

I'll be in Chicago next week with some time to kill. Can anyone recommend some good (second hand?) vinyl stores for me to check out? Also anyone know a good analogue orientated hi-fi retailer in the windy city?

Well, this isn't much, but since no one else is responding...
Reckless at around 3000 Broadway, and around 2800 N. Clark there used to be a bunch of record stores.
Hyd Park has a few around 53rd St. and S. Blackstone.
Evanston has Vintage Vinyl - a[[arently good stuff at high prices.
I haven't checked these out in a couple of years.

Also
Laurie's Planet of Sound (4600 block of North Lincoln Avenue, Lincoln Square neighborhood) - indie releases and some used vinyl of varying shape, great for new releases
Reckless Records (Milwaukee Avenue, just south of North Avenue in the Wicker Park neighborhood) - same firm as Phil listed above; better obscure vinyl, though less selection than Broadway store IMHO

Andy, I don't know about vinyl, but as far as analog hi-fi, you might contact Ken Christianson at ProMusica on Clark Street in Chicago. Ken has produced and recorded many albums for Naim, and ProMusica is a Naim dealer as well.

Hi Andy,
If you like Jazz, the Jazz Record Mart on North Wabash is good. Also, 2nd Hand Tunes on Clark, north of ProMusica, is a good source of vinyl.
Fred is right. Go to ProMusica and talk to Ken and listen to the Basement setup. You will never want to leave.
I miss my home town, so enjoy it for me!
Regards,
Anthony

Another vore for (Django's) 2nd Hand Tunes. The store at 2604 North Clark is, I think, vinyl only and there are several others selling all sorts of CD's, DVD's etc.
You may be able to check out what's available here
And Andy, when you're there make sure you get pizza'd up (Gino's East and/or Pizza Uno), visit Buddy Guy's Legends, have breakfast at the Original Pancake House on E Bellevue. Great city, have fun.
