HDX cannot connect to my IMac Share

Posted by: BernardG on 07 November 2009

I would be grateful for any help.

I have an HDX on my network which is quite happy to talk to my Windows 7 PC.

My brand new iMac can also connect to my W7 PC.

The HDX appears in the list of Servers on my iMac.

My problem is that neither my Windows 7 PC nor the HDX recognise the share called NAIM, that I have set up on the MAC.

I have created the share and given Everyone Read and Write Access. I have tried to make the MAC as "visible" as possible on the network.

This is really emabarrasing as I make my living as a Network Consultant, but I am completely new to MAC and it's Unix OS. (I am running Snow Leopard)

Thanks for any suggestions.

You need to set it up as a SMB share as this is what windows recognsies (and by default the hdx)

Goto system prefences on the mac and click sharing.

On the right of this pane is 'options' Click it
Turn on SMB and close the window.

Back in sharing in the middle should be your naim share, if its not there click on the plus button and navigate to the share and select it for sharing.

Give it a few moments and you should be set.
