Hi all ,just wondering has aanyone powered a stageline 2 with a hicap 2, if so what benifits are there over powering it straight from my 202?

ps mine arrives tomorrow and yes I bought it without doing the dem!!

Thx

Have you heard what a hicap does to a Naim preamp?

I was not initially impressed by a preamp that needed a power supply that cost more than the preamp (I had a 62 at the time). Here's what convinced me:

1) listened to a bare 92 for a few minutes
2) listened to the 92/hi for a few minutes - was not impressed
3) listened to the bare 92 again for a few seconds.

The hicap is a no-brainer. If the stageline can be powered from the 202, try the 'cap on the 202 as well as the S'line.

Hi phil
Sorry I should have listed my cuurent system,as follows..
LP12/ittock/10x4/cdx2/xps2/202/hi 2/napsc/stageline2/250 mk2/allaes.
My hope is the new hicap will benefit the stageline to the same extent the 202,plus a slight improvement all round as the 202 now carries a smaller burden.
thx

Hi all

Well its been a couple of days and Ican only describe it as a transformation,as much of an improvemrnt as adding a hi-cap ta a pre amp. Also the cdx2 sound has improved a touch.Whilst being talked through the wiring install by Mark at Naim he suggested to use the tuner input rather than the aux 2 I had been using???
Not heard of that before but mark said "its a cleaner signal path as the aux input has a buffer/filter board on it " and "you will notice the improvement sonically".
As I changed two parts/setup options I can't say what each one does, has anyone else tried either of them?

yours vynally forever

Interesting comment about using the tuner input instead of Aux, I've been using Aux2 on my 282 as per the manual (either the 282 or Stageline), when I get my 282 back from Naim, will have to try it out.

I certainly hope the powered input on the 282 is adequate for the Stageline - I don't want to have to buy another bloody power supply! (nor will the better half allow one in).
