well, not sure if Matt's referring to my SBLs but they fit the (2) option...
clearly a far better choice than (1)

if the 1995 ones have the original drivers, I'd take the older ones (as they have had the driver upgrade), at £750. As long as they have the packaging (this is over £100 to buy).

Assuming condition of both pairs is roughly equivalent.

PS - black ash sounds better, doncha know!

I,m thinking the same thing... the speakers with the newer drivers have to be the better option ...as you say providing they are in good nic & have original packaging!

Although I,m wondering how they would compare with say the last production run model SBL??

DO YOU KNOW THE DIFFERENCES??
