England are back...

Enjoyed that.

Common team, England didn't actually play that badly really. Just a tad one dimensional. Get some quality leadership in the backs and mix it up a little more and that strong platform will look like an advantage rather than a disadvantage.
Scotland played with more heart though. It also looked like they wanted win. I wonder whether the English players get given enough rope to take some responsibility on the field. Change the tactics, etc?
Half back sucked I'm afraid. Dawson is good but he's not as quick as he was. Can't help but feel that the other fella is in there for development at the moment.

Well if you all thought Scotland played a good game then if you look a little closer you a will notice a similarity to the England tatics of 5-6 years ago, of not going for a win by scoring tries but by disrupting play and scoring penalties.
That's been the England strategy a lot more recently - it's what won the world cup. And it's further reason why, in these days of closed stadia, the scoring system really ought to be revised an the points for penalties and drop goals lowered.....

I agree Tam, 2 points for a penalty and drop goal to bring them inline with conversion scores would be good, and would mean that England would still be world champs.

Ummmm chaps.
That "style" has only won the World Cup once. What does that tell you?
England won the World Cup with a hell of a lot more style than you are giving them credit for. They just need a bit more intell on the field.

If you still believe that, despite what the evidence showed you on Saturday, you deserve to join Andy Robinson's management team.
They're going to get shafted big-time unless they mend their ways, and quickly.
But why should a Scot such as I am care about that? Your boys took a hell of a beating.

Come on. It's just one game and it could be worse. Could be the Lions.....(anyone hear Woodwood's interview on Live 5 last night?).

I believe there's a good side in there....somewhere. I just don't think the leadership is there. I don't mean a figurehead or someone who gets stuck in, etc. They need someone who has some tactic sense on the field in the forwards and bacls. There's plenty of commitment, just not enough intelligence.

My "boys" are playing the Super 14 mate. I'm a Kiwi!

Well, it's not "just one game" any more.
They got their arses kicked good and proper (again).
And, for those who think "that there's a good side in there", please show me where they're hiding.

If I had one, I sure as hell would have. As indeed I wore my Scotland replica with bursting pride two weeks ago at Murrayfield.

Wearing a Scotland replica top of any description only happens about once every seven years so let's not deny them a moment of hapiness. Oh yes, and I think they were once ok at curling.

No, it's just bugger the arrogant English signs...you need to practice your sign interpretation a bit methinks.

OK. I take back all my positive comments....
Shame on me!

This has rather got off the point that, for all their patronising arrogance, the England rugby team are a bunch of losers. They have no leadership, on or off the field, and it's good to see these bullies having their arses kicked.
Get used to it, as they have been well and truly rumbled.

"Could somebody please send details of where to return the Webb-Ellis trophy too?
A Robinson"
What a rubbish display, all my fellow Naimers down under must be laughing their boots off. I actually switched the game off after 70 minutes because it was so hard to watch.
Can we please find a captain to lead by instruction and example. Martin C may be a good player but that does not make a good leader. His interview after the match showed a total lack of determination to pull the team forward.

You know, I wish I'd never started this.
What has been painful is that we really did seem to be playing as a team again at the start of this years 6 Nations. We have some undeniably good club players and some very good internationals but that 'Team' thing seems to have gone missing again and we end up playing a bit like Italy used too...signs of willing and intent but thoroughly lacking cohesion and decent planning, displaying such woeful naivety that you end up applauding any score because you feel a bit sorry for them being so outclassed.
Ah well, there's always the cricket.

So. how did the flower of Scotland get on?
In this tournament so far the Scotland side has shown a big improvement in it's defensive qualities but needs to match that up with more incisive attacking play. Overall the tournament has given the Scotland side plenty to build on, however there is still a lot of work for the new coach to do.
From what I've seen of England in the tournament then I'd have to say that a major rebuilding exercise is going to be required if they're to compete at the world cup.

Jenson for a race win?
Paula at the Somemorewealthythanothers Games?
Timbo for Wimbo?
The World Cup?
Come on. There must be something!

I trust you are not trying to suggest football as 'the' world cup.
Cricket perhaps, but never ever football.

I'll quote what a mate of my gorgeous other half once said......
"Football is a gentleman’s game played by thugs, Rugby is a thugs game played by gentlemen"
Summed it up quite nicely I thought.....

The fact of the matter is that football is the only sport played world wide whilst cricket is only played amongst England and its former colonies............and Rugby by "non-countries "like Samoa and Scotland.
How can a competition be refered to as a World Cup when only a dozen or so countries/ non -countries are entered ?
Like it or not football is the only sport which units the world.

You are an arrogant arse! And I suspect that your football team will get the result to which their own arrogance codemns them.
Incidentally, if Scotland is a 'non-country', where does that leave England?
