So soon?
It hardly seems like yesterday it happened.

I intend to "celebrate" the day by getting horrifically drunk , playing a load of records and probably bursting into tears just before bedtime.

I shall listen to no music at all in honour. No Vinyl, no CD, no video. My mobile is set to "vibrate/no sound"
I can see no more befitting tribute to the man.

So that explains Atomic Kitten's apparant popularity.

Apparently, DJ Shadow has around 500,000 CDs and bits of vinyl. There's a big jazz collector in the States (can't remember his name) who has a similarly-sized collection.
Peel actually had to have the foundations of his house strengthened to take the weight of his collection. There was talk of his collection being donated to the British Museum, but his widow Sheila said on Radio 4 the other day that she couldn't bear to part with it at the moment because it reminded her of John and would leave an uncomfortable void in the house if it were not there.
What's the size of David Slater's collection these days?
David???
Cheers

At Half Man Half Biscuit's fixture at the Carling Academy in Liverpool. last Thursday (13/10), while the band were off the stage before the encore, a chant of "there's only one John Peel" went up - a touching moment. Nigel dedicated the first song (99% of Gargoyles Look Like Bob Todd) to him when they came back on stage.
