N-vi: no video output?

Posted by: Duncan Fullerton on 11 July 2009

Guys,

Hopefully you can help. I dropped my n-Vi off at my dealer today to be fettled at HQ (display is failing) and I cannot get the loaner machine to display any video.

So the only menu available is via the "setup" button on the remote and I've tried: Video -> auto, PAL, NTSC. I also have it connected to my Panny plasma via HDMI and lately SCART, but nadda.

Everything else works: I'm decoding Sky fine and when I put a disc in, the display is showing the decode and the sound is output.

I'm probably being a muppet - and I thought I knew my way around this box! - but any help greatfully appreciated; Naim are not in until Monday and my dealer Tuesday.

Thanks,

Duncan

Video outputs are probably OFF.
input at Disk, no disk on the drawer, press SETUP on the remote to display the menu on your screen (not the front panel one).
Go in the menu at video setup and set them on, or at least the one you are using (DVI if you are using HDMI).

Thanks Manu. I tried that. On HDMI get intermittent flashing "white noise" type of display interspersed with black. On SCART just black.

Whats happened to your display on the n-Vi ?

SCART now working so I now have access to the full menu. DVI is set to "on", but still no output. Tried reseating the cable (which worked fine with my n-Vi). So ... knackered DVI outputon this box or some other menu option I'm overlooking?

Thanks,

Duncan

Lost the bottom quarter and some fade out on the rest. No biggy. Just an age/heat thing I guess.

Duncan,

Call Naim HQ, they can help with DVI synch and by the way, your display problem.
