NaimUnity Internet Radio

Does anyone know - can you get the BBC radio streams direct to a NaimUnity? I have a friend who's abroad and considering the NaimUnity but wants BBC radio if possible.

Hi Eloise

Yes, you can definitely get all the national and local radio stations "live" through the iRadio facility. There are also extra streams which I haven't really investigated and not sure if they replicate exactly what's available online but, for example, there are 45 extra items under Radio 4 and 10 extra items under Radio 1 and 8 extra items under 6Music.

Hope that helps....

Not sure though if live streams would not get bounced with ips outside of the uk, you may need a proxy in order to hear them. I could be wrong.

Yes. You can get the BBC internet streams direct to a Uniti.
However, not sure how this would work outside the UK with sports broadcasts (eg: Some internet sports feeds are blocked outside the area where the broadcaster has brought rights to and can be filtered by the IP address.)
Might depend on what he has bought the Uniti to do. And where he is.
Internet broadcasting (either sound or vision) does not mean you can get whatever you want anywhere.

They can get the streams via a computer so (hopefully) no problem getting them via NaimUnity.

Thanks for your help folks I shall pass the info on as being a "probably".

There you have it - whatever you can get on a computer you can get on the Uniti Internet Radio. Rstrictions on braodacst streamed content (such as some live sports on BBC etc)is platform independent.
