HELP ON TONEARM

Posted by: king on 10 January 2002

I'm running a heavily modified turntable with Audioquest PT6 arm. I was told that the Rega RB300 is the best budget arm anyone can get.

Question is, does it fit my current arm hole and distance to the spinder?

Also, what I dislike about Rega arm is that the tonearm cable is not changable. This give me limitation to trail and error.

Incidentaly, can someone tell me if ARO's arm cable is detachable? If yes, what kind of connector is at the arm's end?

There are a number of modified RB300s and RB250s on the market. Many of them use different arm cables... so there is at least some choice available. I believe Origin Live and Moth sell modified Rega arms (at a premium over the original arm of course). There may be some other makes that modify these arms too.

Another arm to consider is the one that Pro-jekt use. Said to be good, I'm not sure whether they are sold separately... they probably are.
