very quick question. can anybody recommend a bluetooth audio receiver with digital output for about £50?

No ... Griffin used to make one, but it is discontinued - the Chord Gem is superb, but is far more expense than your budget and has not digital out. If anybody knows of BT to S/PDIF converter then I'm very very very interested - APTX is the best way I've heard to get data from a computer to a DAC - though I'm hoping the HiFace can match it.

The Griffin BlueTrip had an optical digital out so not perfect.
What I'd like is a device with a BNC Electric Digital Out to feed a Naim DAC and APT-X BT capability - i.e. a Chord GEM with no internal DAC or just put a digital out on the GEM.
A universal digital music receiver would be an idea - it would have Internet radio and connect to to home network by Ethernet or WiFi and also support BT connections and DAS (Directly Attached Storage through USB/Firewire/eSATA) so you could connect hard disk drives or solid state drives to it).
