UnitiServe - Backup & Restore

Posted by: Joe66 on 01 November 2010

UnitiServe - Users,

There is a short description in the manual how a backup of an UnitiServe should be made, but there are no remarks regarding restore procedure etc...

Before I do the whole backup thing I want to be sure that restore works, so I´d like to know if some experiences are out there...

Has someone done already backup & restore? Are there some recommendations from experienced UnitiServe-Users?

Best regards!

If you have backed up the MQ,LQ and HQ folders to a separate network share then you can simply mount that share as a store and copy the music back...

Did this last week for a customer whose Serve started playing up. Backed up his original Serve to NAS, then made the NAS a share, then into a store, then, using the "Move Music" function, transferred the backup data on to a new Serve.

All sorted now, BTW Phil.

Thank you, gentlemen!

Does backup mean with a typical backup software or is a 100% mirror copy ( eg like the windows command line tool robocopy does) also ok?

I will test that, so will do the following now:

1. - run robocopy tool by a time triggered batch file to make a 100% mirror of MQ folder (there are all my CD rips) to a network share

2. - delete one subfolder ( = one CD rip) on the UnitiServe via UnitiServe menu

3. - try to mount the network share

4. - copy back the deleted MQ subfolder to the UnitiServe via UnitiServe menu from the network share

If this works I´m sure to have a proper backup & restore procedure...

BTW, I really love my nice little black brick!
