Not at all true.
How many CDs do you have Nuno?
How many has your friend got?
I can only fit 400 or so albums on mine and that doesn't even cover the ones I would say I listen to regularly (say every 6 months in the house/car).
...and that's not even including all the 'one-off' songs from my computer D:/Music/Various folder.

PS Damn. Now I'm encouraging even more deliberation from our vacillatory chum

Both Nano 4 GB or 20 GB are a good choice.Nano has the last techonology but the other has more GB to store music.Thank you for your advice, now it is up to me to decide!

Nuno, in your situation I think I would either go for the full 60GB machine and allow minimum compression of tracks with maximum sound quality, or I'd accept that I only want this for portable use and go for the small flash version using more compressed files. Have you read the book the Dice Man? (it might help the decision!)

Don't rush it Nuno, take good time to make your mind up .

Bare in mind the ipod can be used as a harddrive, this can become very important if you want regular back ups of important files for the inevitable day when your PC dies.

I might can get a discount for a 20 GB monochromatic iPOD!

Well it might be helpful to know that many hundreds of nano users have complained that the nano screen is really really easy to scratch, infact apples discussions board has been inundated and there is whole websites springing up on the issue.
Like all thing new probably best to let some American do the beta testing lol.

Yup that would be it.
The good news for following users is that apple will need to address this because they are under the spotlight, after all who gives a fuck about any other MP3 player?
snigger.

What, like they addressed the stupidly short battery life on the third generation iPods, the crippled European volume, the crap headphones and the MP3 gapless playback issue?
I wouldn't bet on it.
I bought a 40gb third generation iPod when it first came out. As a result I will never buy another Apple product again. They are an overpriced triumph of design over functionality. And Appple's customer care and service record is terrible (just look at the forums).

They did address the battery issue.
The volume problem is down to UK law, its dead easy to bypass anyhow.
The gapless playback issue is not an issue, you just didn't read the instructions.
How can you possibly say a 40gig ipod is not functional? Its been a life saver as a harddrive and a music device for me for a few years.

Couldn't agree less - I have always found Apple very helpful and I ask some pretty bizarre questions of them. If you want an example of appalling service try Gates' lot or that computer company who all dress in blue.

Just avoid the Nano which seems to have screen problems:

which Apple have acknowledged:

Nuno - all you ever wanted to know about iPod batteries is here.
Apple is fixing the Nano screen problems - so best wait on the outcome.

Seconded.
Nuno, i would give yourself a good year or so before jumping in. But the iPod models will have changed and improved by then (bigger H/D's, better screens etc), so it might be best to give it another year or so.

I´m just waiting for the new model, the 20 GB color.Soon it will arrive! But I´ve got the chance to get a discount on monochromatic. So I will decide what is best for me
