nope -- the bentley does nearly 25mpg on a run. The aston is somewhat worse, but does less then 5k miles per year
compared to depreciation on newer cars, the petrol cost is minimal.

Jon, I'm sure you don't need to be told but that Aston looks absolutely glorious.

I agree (see my previous post of the Vantage) but I am even more impressed that you actually own one!
Nice ride!

There is much common ground between the cars and the hifi -- I appreciate that a new porsche 911 turbo is faster, better built, more reliable, easier to drive, far less hassle etc. But it just doesn't crank my handle.
The aston is awkward, hard to drive, temperamental, passionate, full blooded and annoying. But every mile is an epic journey.
Similar to my 6-pack/135/DBLs.
Some (many? most?) would run away screaming from the ownership experience of a classic aston supercar. But it gets under your skin and you just cant shake it off. Ditto owning the Bentley RT versus a new Flying Spur.

wow lots of great cars. I see some on the road here in LA and at concours with a friend. But here's my car from the Focus website. I just had to get the most outrageous color offered. Great fun to drive and people really give me right of way when they see me coming. LOL Not like my gray 2005 Focus, that clean styling I liked better.
I'm bored with black white and 6 shades of gray on the road. I remember the 60s and 70s when cars were colors.
I put my exotic car money into my stereo system, otherwise I'd probably have a lotus elise probably in screaming yellow. I'm sure feeling my oats late in life.

Here in the UK it seems to be 99 shades of red.

yeah isn't it goobed up? I like the lights and grill but I really miss the european look of clean lines in this. A friend who follows european car magazines said the 2009 is really designed for young people with lots of badges, details and "fun" things like changeable colored lights on the inside.
I had the ZX5 gray four doors and hatch back, so much better. But hey, I can't complain about the new car because it's part of my dad's retirement package as long as it's a Ford. I don't have to pay a thing except gas and it gets 32mpg average. I drove a Fusion for 6 months and it was too big and V6 very aggressive.
In 2011 We'll get Fords Fiesta, Wow they look great and saw a lime green one on the freeway, I bet it was a test car.

I had one like that back in 2002. It was a great car.

It's not politically correct, but I named my Amber Metallic Focus "chollo" because the color is so outrageous. It was a derogatory remark about Hispanics decades ago. But I was at a car show years and years ago. Big Hispanic guy, big moustache had the most beautiful chopped 40s car that was basically an extended bubble with no chrome or bumper and it was metal flake gold about 20 layers thick and polished to no end. It was fabulous.
I was in traffic on Sunset Blvd and saw another amber Focus, we waved and smiled creeping past each other... in a sea of grey black and white.
Compared to my friend's Hondas and Toyotas mine is way more fun to drive with the sports package. Googas for days. Feeling like a teen again driving home and hearing great rock and roll and cool with AC on the freeway. Or at the beach I always drive with the windows down.
Having way too much fun late in life to care about what others think. Do the hokey pokey and turn yourself about.

Great Deadlifter looks like too much fun!
Another car I saw back in 70s in CA were dune buggys and outrageous VW Beetles. Oh my, they did such fun things back then with fiberglass bodies. But legal issues crept up about safety and you don't see those anymore.
Just watch the Thomas Crown Affair and enjoy the ride with Steve.
I remember seeing him when I was walking down a street in Laguna Bch. I heard an engine wind up in 1st, looked up and a craggy face in silver Porsche went past..... had to settle my nerves after that. What a sight turning around and watching him take it up the hill.

My best friend Dave had restored this Alfa, what a dream to drive. Little red Italian stallion just wanting to be wound out. He really enjoyed it, oh and his roses too.
Sad he had to sell it but he needed something practical and he now has my gray Focus. Loves it and says it's just as much fun to drive as the alfa once he put new tires and stiffer leafsprings. And all the electricals work and AC a much needed item of desire.

Oh that Alfa is one of my favorite Alfa's as well. When the lottery opens my door and the garage has room for an x number of cars this one is a sure thing.

Well, having followed the XJRs round various European circuits in the late 80s and early 90s - The car I'd have loved to experience from the inside.....if only
.
Here pictured on the Hangar straight at Silverstone at about 180mph - best guess..... Oh the sound, the wail of the V12. Nothing quite like it IMHO.
