A few people have asked me if I'd post another picture of my new exhaust manifold (well last autmn) - It helps my old girl breathe more easily
and as for the performance and sound on throttle.... Well

This is a dream car that is possible and every bit as great as the impossibly expensive Italian models mentioned.
Let us please forget the rather effette English cars mentioned [like Aston Martin] which breath less well then the Italians, and fold so much easier in a crash than the Swedish Volvo.
I have the third generation Amazon - the 240 - but the light, fuel efficient, and even harder in a crash Amazon is something I aspire to.

..... And all those lovely twists and turns of the maifold are hidden now - The engine bay is a little cramped
Anyway, gone are the Delortos and replaced with a Lumenition fuel injection system.... better economy!
As Jon said earlier depreciation and a modest 25mpg if I stay off the loud pedal is fine. Insurance with all modifications fessed up to and agreed value is about £150.00 LOL!

No George, only 4 cylinders here, not 5.... anyway, nowhere for the fan LOL!
Might poke my camera under the bonnet tomorrow, just to see what's beneath. - It's a Volvo, so one doesn't need to lift it very often

Great cherry volvo George, I remember your earlier comments about it.

Yes I tried a Pipercross, but returned to the standard box with a Pipercross element as it just felt better at higher speeds - Maybe a slight ram air effect from the ducted air intake of the standard airbox???? Either way it went back.

Good, cheap fun and will carry four people too! Sure, a bit of a hand full and a little angular by today's standards, but at 28 years old I still love her looks and she still keeps my full attention when behind the wheel!

My wife used to refer to my Sunbeam as "the other woman"!

Superb. Best car on here so far! And I'm being serious.
I have been fortunate enough to meet Des O'Dell too

They used to use these as cop cars round here

It only matters Jamie, if the Alfa is not your dream car of course

The piper cams used to be made down here in Ashford??
Stu
That's ok Stu as I'm running QED cams

Pipercross filters used to be made here in sunny Northamptonshire.
However, I am told there's a serious Lotus engine management centre in your neck of the woods (towards Dartford I think), with a rolling road dyno on site.
Anyone got any ideas

Good Grief! You came to Erith? Was that wise?
Or do you mean the showroom, which IS in Caterham.

Surely in the case of a car approaching 25 years old that is more for your information, rather than legislation?
You can't be asked to comply with a standard that wasn't in place when the thing was built.

It was back in around 1990 if memory serves me well. The place I went to was in Caterham.

The factory is just down the road from my workplace, so for the past 20 years or more I've been in the unusual position of seeing a few Caterhams of every hue drive past every day.
Make a definite decision to buy one at least once a year, but still haven't. Hanging around their owners' forum tends to put me off. Possibly a lesson there

It is a hoot doing your visits in one. Walking up the path with your medical bag in one hand and removable steering wheel in the other can look a bit odd though.
I took it to the annual fete at one of the local res homes where a selection of residents sat inside and went 'vrooom vroom'.
No bones broken but one pre-tibial laceration disembarking!

Talk to me bout ecus. We are going to fully inject the Vantage this winter with proper coil-over ignition system, throttle bodies and no distributor. Some very interesting choices out there for ecu now

OMG!
How many cylinders?
