Yet another E-bay scam

Posted by: Howlinhounddog on 11 March 2007

I have sold and bought naim gear on e-bay before and like most i have been aware of 'phishing' techniques as and when they appear. I posted on this site once before the dangers of replying to an e-mail directly from your own inbox rather than going to your 'My ebay' messages and that is what I always do. Today I received a mail from someone telling me that my item had been advertised elsewhere and a ULR link to THAT advertisement. Being a naturally suspicious sort I did not click the link but rather copied it and traced it through a safe (none of my details stored) computer. What do you know it was phishing. BE AWARE. E-bay is not bad but SOME BAD PEOPLE USE IT !

How comparatively "safe" is Audiogon.com? Any experience with that? Any other "safe" exchange forums that should be considered for buy/sell?

I have bought and sold on audiogon without problems, so far. I suppose it may be just a matter of time...
