CD 3.5 - Questions

I noticed following on my CD 3.5 which seems new to me:
1/ I can play CD without the puck
2/ When no disc in the player, I can monitor the tracks (Next , previous) with the remote control from 0 to 99 without getting the ERR message, and I cannot get rid of it with the "display" command.

Is it normal ?

On my cd 3.5 as on my new CDX, i can play i cd without having the puck SOMETIMES. It depend of the CD.

When there is no cd in the player, the display is always ON and you can move from track to track.

This true for both of my player.
