Panasonic BD80 -- sound problem with picture-in-picture

Posted by: JamH on 29 May 2010

Hello,

I have a Panasonic BD80 BluRay player. I have upgraded to the latest firmware [it was dated May-2010].

When I play a picture-in-picture commentary I don't get any sound. But the same disk works on a Playstation-3.

Any help appreciated ..

Thanks

James

There are two very useful forums I visit regularly but I'm not allowed to link to them directly. One is the avsforum, one avforums. Search for them and you may get some answers.

I found the answer just in case anyone is interested ...

It is necessary to change the sound settings in setup to allow secondary-sound [secondary-sound on/off]. This has the unfortunate side effect of downsampling the main sound from 96khz to 48khz to allow a mix of the two sound tracks. But the secondary-sound now works.
