loud "crack"

i'm using a naim 62/90 set up and sincing owning it (second hand) it has made a loud crack noise when turning on and off, even with the volume fully turned down. can i rectify this easily?

Jason, this is perfectly normal, something to do with the capacitors.
One question, are you always turning it on and off? Its best left on all the time.

Jason,
There is a very easy way of stopping this happening:-
"Don't turn your amp off"
and by doing that you will also benefit froman improvement in the sound quality.

The above are correct:
(a) Naim kit makes a pop through the speakers when you turn it on/off.
(b) It is generally accepted that you don't switch Naim kit off.

Is a 'loud crack' normal? I'd expect more of a soft thump.
How about if you disconnect the pre and power up? If that is quiet it implies the muting relay in the pre is faulty. In which case getting it fixed or leaving the combo powered up is appropriate.
If the power amp is 'cracking' it probably needs a service.

The OP says '62/90' which implies the pre is supplied from the power amp.
