Indoor ariel for DAB/FM module of n-vi
Posted by: meaculpa on 08 December 2007
I want to uset he DAB/FM module of my n-vi, but cannot have any more wall sockets, cable runs or channeling to allow me to use an external or loft ariel!
My dealer has suggested I try a D&M indoor DAB antenna, whish I have, but still no joy on DAB or FM. With DAB I get no signal, and FM between 6-18% on some channels, but not enough to get a station.
Does anybody have any other suggestions, or am I not really going to be able to solve this one without a loft, or external ariel.
Thanks in advance.

I take it you dont have a feed from a TV antenna or any coax at all coming into the room where your n-Vi is ?

TBH, using a TV antenna for DAB is not ideal, the range of reception for TV aerial is optimum around 420-900Mhz.
DAB runs from 170-240Mhz, so the gain would be very poor...

Sorry - should have been more clear. I didnt recommend he use a TV antenna - i asked if there was a feed from a TV antenna. If so he could add a diplexer either at a loft antenna or chimney without having to add an extra cable just for the DAB antenna - works for me.

Your dealer should contact us if they don't know how to obtain the firmware.

Hi. I'm in a similar situation - have n-Vi, but don't have easy access to an external aerial. What would be your recommended options in this case?
There is actually a roof aerial socket in the room where I have the unit, but I have connected this with coaxial cable and it seems to do a less good job than the old TV antenna that I have.
Your thoughts appreciated. Thank you.

Gloop - Where does the roof aerial socket in the room connect to ?

james n thanks for your interest. The roof aerial socket does indeed connect to a roof aerial, though I'm pretty sure the connection is broken somewhere. Problem is, we're renting at present, so can't replace anything like this...
Suggestions??
