Johnson Beharry VC

I was given a signed and dedicated copy of Johnson Beharry's biography in November of last year but I have only just got round to reading it.

The Victoria Cross decoration, suspension bar and link weighs a mere 0.87 troy ounces (27 g) but it is a very heavy burden to live with. Reading this book was a humbling experience.

yes acad,
i dont know that much about him but what i do know is that he is a very brave and decent guy.
i saw a programme about him and was impressed by his level headedness and gentle nature.
pity there arent a lot more like him around.

Yes Scotty. I was invited to a lunch in his honour and he gave a talk and answered questions and he came over as a very gentle and humble chap although he is in pain all of the time and finds concentrating difficult. I think he would prefer no medal and no £1million book deal and a life back with his mates free from injury. He can sign books but gets tired and finds writing personal dedications difficult unless he can copy the desired dedication. The book was ghost written. He has had a lot to go through and adjusting will be a very long and difficult process. I wish him well.

I recommend this highly Dusty Warriors: Modern Soldiers at War - Prof.(Brig.)Richard Holmes (famous for his TV work)is the Colonel of PWRR and a former company commander in 5/QUEENS when they had a full NATO role and so he knows his stuff.
