Thanks for that, an excellent start. I am looking hard on the web but not found "Graffit Tongue" yet. I will be looking for some local record fairs in the north which may help.

You might try posting this question on his site here.

Of Graffiti Tongue the man himself says:
"Fuckin’ rough slog. Fell out with one of me best mates and we’ve not spoken since. Hate that. Inis Maan, Passage East, Scariff, Kilmainham, Ballyvourney again, on the mattress, no sounding board, I can’t judge this work, good songs, harsh sounds.

All my own making, my decisions, my responsibility, no blame at all on anyone else, good title, good sleeve idea but badly executed. I am not enjoying my work anymore at this time."

Bit harsh I think!

Very harsh - it's a great record. I have it on CD and am unaware of it being available on vinyl (I've gone digital these days because of availability - if everything I like was available in vinyl it would be great, but it's never that simple). Christy is often his own harshest critic.

Good luck Jim - hope you can find it. If not the CD is pretty good and better than not having it.

I agree, but when you have to put your life's work in order you can't say they are all brilliant. Anyway to balance it. This is him on Ordinary Man:

"I really enjoyed the making of this. Donal and I were joined by Arty McGlynn who provided gorgeous licks. We made it in Nicky Ryan’s back garden and had a rare ole time of it. We were joined by various others but the four of us did the business.

I may be repeating myself but this album proves yet again the magic of Donal Lunny. The riffs he created, the colours he painted, the sensitivity he shows, the help he offers, the performances he coaxes and all this done selflessly.

For me, there is no greater rock in all of Irish music and I am privileged in my tether. Of course, it helps that he’s a bogman and Gavin Wednesday has proclaimed the Culchie is the new cool. Far amach!"

Listening to it I think you can hear the enjoyment.

I have graffiti tongue on cd and it's a fantastic cd, but because it's so good I fancy a vinyl copy as well if I can get hold of one.
Amazon have got it on there web site (vinyl) but have no copies available which tells me there is vinyl available (I think).

Thanks for the info on his site. I have just registered and who knows Christy himself may help! I will keep my fingers crossed.

I have registered on Christy's web site tonight and asked the question about a vinyl copy of
"Graffiti Tongue". The man himself replied "It was never released on vinyl,(he thinks)", which now really sums this thread up. A little dissapointing but least I have the cd.

Again thanks for the info about his web site. Really should have been the first place to look!
