Is a Naim system intended to be set up this way?

I decided not to move but to buy the house I'm renting. So I'm free to make holes, install a second consumer unit and any other measures in the listening room.

Then it occurred to me - my listening room is by chance adjacent to the garage. Which means that the PS and NAP135s could be in the garage with only the Bundy and SNAIC going through the wall behind the preamp and the speaker cables through the wall in the corner. Also I won't hear the transformers buzzing. Best of all, the power leads could be wired directly into the 100A consumer unit!

Has anyone tried this? What is the best way to fill the holes around the leads?
From the position of the connectors on the preamp/power supply this option doesn't appear to be accidental.

I've done something similar.

1. CDS2 and 52 are on a rack, in a closet, in my listening room.

2. This closet is adjacent to yet another (larger) closet.

3. The larger closet houses the 500, XPS, and supercap.

4. I cut an ugly hole in the wall between the closets. The SNAIC, Burndy, and all power leads are fed through the hole into the larger closet.

5. A dedicated mains spur and socket have been wired to the closet. Note that this spur has a dedicated, dual-rod ground as well.

The hole in the wall is ugly. Haven't bothered to fill the hole yet, as both closets reside within 'interior living space.' I do have a large slab of foam, however, and I intent to carve a bung of sorts to jam into the hole.

The difference yielded by moving the power supplies and amp into an adjacent room is audible. Both closets do share the same floor, however. All gear are on modest Target racks. I did demo some FRAIM for everything and was predictably impressed. A full set is on the 'someday soon' list.

A coupla friends of mine are fortunate to have basements. They've placed their power supplies and amps on tall shelves (pine, even!) in the basement, and ran the wires through heating registers to the components residing on the floor directly above.

Somesuch,

Thanks for the advice. You have to try Fraim. You will be amazed, especially with your level of kit. I just got a new base and split the single tier in 2 - almost as big an upgrade as getting the first base! (YMMV) I wonder what my freinds will say when they see it in the garage though!
