David Carradine has been found dead in his hotel room in Bangkok. Police supsect suicide.

I still remember the day he first became known to me as grasshopper in the now seems like ancient Kung Fu series.

Such a shame. May he RIP.

A real character ... sad to hear it may have been suicide, I wonder if he was terminally ill or something ?

Sad, sad, sad ...

Put it this way, the rope wasn't just around his neck.....Unfortunately, it's looking like an accident....

A real shame.

Real real sad. Why suicide? His life was full of successes and accomplishments?

I used to love Kung Fu when it was shown in the seventies. If I remember rightly, it used to be shown on a Sunday afternoon, just before The Big Match.

He was also wearing a Newcastle Utd shirt but the police kept that quiet to avoid causing his family any further embarrassment.

A true maverick and something tells me he may not have been entirely unhappy about this controversy.

Well, there's not much controversy really...More like scandal/embarrassment Winker

The only controversy 'may' be the yet mention (in the western press) of a 2nd person in the room - he did rather well to tie a rope around his neck, wrists and er, dangling bits...! The Thai police (think Keystone cops) have sent the rope off for DNA testing to establish who tied it.....

A friend (hack) here tells me the word is the door was locked from the inside, so perhaps he was indeed alone......One thing is for SURE, he did not commit suicide...He was found sitting down in the closet !....

Im afraid LOTS of people die from this particular sex act which can easily go wrong. It's a sure a once in a lifetime experience.....Of course the door was locked from the inside. you wouldn't exactly want someone to find you doing it..unless you were even more kinky...

'Once in a lifetime'...? Yeah, you're not wrong !

The point being about the door, was that if he had, lets say, help from your average friendly Thai lady, as seems to be rumoured, the door 'couldn't' have been locked from the inside.....However, this is Thailand, and everything, of course, is totally possible........

Funny thing was though, David Carradine wasn't a martial artist. Bruce Lee got turned down for the role in the series Kung Fu and was replaced with David Carradine who is an actor and not a martial artist. This was because David Carradine was more racially accepted amongst the american viewing puplic at that time. Bruce Lee went on to go into partnership with his own film company and directed his own material, who was in my opinion far too talented to be on a american TV series anyway.

Bruce Lee actually devised the series and when it was taken to the network they couldn't stomach the main role being played by an oriental, saying the American public wouldn't accept it. That's why Carradine was cast in his stead.

Another Bruce Lee project that David ended up staring in was "The Silent Flute / Circle of Iron"

I believe in this instance that Bruce died before filming....

I too grew up on Kung-Fu and also enjoyed the cheezy spin-off - Kung Fu - The Legend Continues.

Either way; sad news, he will be missed.
