Hello!

I saw your comment on naim forum. I was wondering does it fit in classical music since most of media that i have is classical. Are they capable of
being run active mode?

Is it worth to go active? I just recently acquired the nac32.5/hi-cap/nap250 and would like to set them up. Any speakers that you can recommend for naim amp? Thanks a lot.

Regards,

Ray

Hi Ray,

I hope that you will forgive me posting your e-mail to me, but as the content appears not in the least personal I thought that it would be suitable for forum consumption.

The IBL in my opinion pretty much gives as good as the info it receives. They probably are less suited to large orchestral works as generosity of scale is not one of their strong suites, though don't be too fooled by the small enclosure. Driven actively with a top front end it is hard to believe that the sound is coming only from the 2
small boxes.

Yes they can be run actively & they positively revel in it. I use mine with a pair of 250's & would be very loathed to go back to passive mode. That said...... your new amps are perfectly suited to the IBL. Just make sure the source is up to scratch & you have a great system. Going active is a big leap forward, but what you have not heard at home you will not miss.

Any speaker will work with Naim amps apart from ones where the impedance drops down incredibly low. My personal preferences are for Naim, early Linn & some of the ProAc range. I recently heard some Royd's at the Bristol show & they sounded very promising.
