cheap chinese goods

According to the Washington Post, 35,000 Chinese miners have perished since the year 2000 in mine accidents. Makes the electric bill at the factory quite reasonable. Yes that's 35 thousand. 2000 thus far this year.

One of the peculiarities of life is our desire to earn $30.00 per hour and then we want to purchase goods made for $3.00 per hour.
So many people in our country are unemployed as we refuse to buy goods made by them at their wages and we then moan that workers in 3 rd world countries work in poor and dangerous conditions on slave wages.
Then we insist that those countries treat their workers better but we dont want the prices of those goods to rise to pay for it.
So as long as we buy on price we will perpetuate this iniquity. At the moment china is raging ahead but there are other countries champing at the bit to have a bit of the action should china treat its employees better.
We too will continue to demand goods at low prices all the while we live and work in a 1st world country with all the benefits this offers.

Cheap does not equal value.
Value for some consumers may also include ethical issues-I try to when I have the information.
One thing I abhor is that the UK and other countries find it more economical to export waste/rubbish by sea to China than deal with it here.

I've always gone by the motto "You get what you pay for". Cheap stuff is cheap for a reason.
